The primary purpose and goal of the RE program is to nurture the faith development of the children of our congregation and teach God's Word.
RE is not meant to be the primary Christian teaching a child receives. Parents are the primary teachers of our Faith to our children. Teachers are only aids in this endeavor, so we
need your help in this process. RE would like to partner with you as parents to assure that your child/children live their Catholic faith. As a parent you are in a unique position
of influence to your child/children. By bringing your child/children to RE and attending Mass regularily, you will be instilling upon your child/children, the importance of studying and hearing the
teachings of our church. If would like to print a copy of the following RE Policies click the link below.

RE registration has started for the 2021-2022 school year. If you haven't registered yet, all regisrations for RE classes are done via our online registration form. All fees are due to the RE Coordinator by September 10, 2021. THIS DEADLINE IS SET AND NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE DUE TO THE FACT THAT BOOKS MUST BE ORDERED FOR YOUR CHILD OR CHILDREN SO OUR TEACHERS WILL HAVE THEM PRIOR TO CLASSES STARTING.
It is very important that all children are registered by the RE Coordinator. No child will be allowed to attend classes unless they are fully registered. Parents are required to keep the RE Coordinator updated on any changes to addresses, phone numbers, etc.
Fees are $21.00 for each student or $63.00 per family with 4 or more children. The $63.00 fee applies to immediate family members only!
Classes will be held in the following locations according to your child's grade:
RE meets every Wednesday evening starting on September 24, 2021 and ending on May 27, 2022. Calendar is attached. Calendar is subject to change, if changes occur it will posted in the bulletin, RE website or letter will be sent to parents.
Pre-Kindergarten through 5th Grade meet from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. 6th Grade through High School meets from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Regular attendance in class is vital for successful growth in the knowledge of our Catholic Faith. Parents should see that their child's attendance has priority over other activities. Parental re-enforcement on attendance also underscores the value of religious education. Parents whose child is absent more than two times will be contacted by the RE coordinator. If a child is unable to attend class due to illness or another legitimate reason, please send an email to the RE Coordinator. Second Grade Preparation Class will be given instructions from their teacher on how they will have to report an absence.
The following rules have been put in place for the safety and well being of all children attending classes:
RE will not tolerate any bullying, fighting, name calling, etc. Students coming to RE classes should be free of the hurtful situations that can arise from their daily schools. No situations created in school should be brought to the RE classes. Please talk to your child/children of this matter as this will be strictly enforced. Courtesy, cooperation and respect are expected from all students towards each other and including all RE catechist.
The church will provide a book for all children. The RE fees assist our church to pay for these books and supplies for our children.
Please instruct your child/children to take care of their classroom property including tables, chairs, walls, dry erase boards, etc.
When dropping off your child for class please enter in the first entrance into the church parking lot, drop your child off and then proceed around the parking lot and exit the parking lot. DO NOT stay stationary in the drop-off line to talk to your child or other parents. If you want to speak to someone, please get out of the drop-off line and park
When picking up your child, please enter in the first entrance into the church parking lot, pick up your child and then proceed around the parking lot and exit the parking lot. DO NOT stay stationary in the pick-up line to talk to your child or other parents. If you want to speak to someone, please get out of the drop-off line and park
Following the simple guidelines for drop-off's and pick-up's will make the lines move quickly and more efficiently
Children ARE NOT ALLOWED to bring cell phones, tablets, games, iPod's or other devices to classes. The teachers have been instructed to pick these up at the beginning of the classes. There will no texting during class time.
If you have a child or children that have special needs, please notify the RE Cooredinator and/or the child's teacher, so that we may make the necessary arrangements to accommodate your child's needs. We will make every effort to make your child's experience as comfortable and stress free as possible.
RE WILL follow the Abilene Independent School District policy for class cancellations due to inclement weather. If your child did not attend school due to the weather, RE will not hold classes. RE will place any closings on our RE website or local TV stations.
Father will be visiting classrooms from time to time. Please talk to your child/children and let them know that when Father enters a classroom EVERYONE is to stand and remain standing until Father tells everyone to be seated. Everyone should always and foremost show Father Sosa the upmost respect. This should be a very important conversation in everyone's home.
Parents can assist their child during RE in many ways such as reviewing lessons, asking questions, being interested in and aware of what is happening in the classroom, making sure any work sent home from RE is completed and returned during the next scheduled class. Also, parent attendance with your child at the liturgies or other parish activities will be a source of unspoken encouragement to both your children. We welcome and encourage parent involvement in every way. No program of religious instruction can be fully effective without the continuous interest, support and example of your Family.
ALL teachers, teacher aides, instructors, etc, will be require to attend a Call to Protect class BEFORE being allowed to teach or aid in teaching any child
