Wolfgang was born about AD 924 in Swabia. His education came from the Abbey of Reichenau on Lake Constance and in AD 964 he became a monk at Einsiedeln (in modern-day Switzerland). In 972, he was named Bishop of Regensburg (in modern-day Germany). His reputation for giving alms to the poor resulted in a title of "the Great Almoner". After his death, there were numerous reportings of healings in Regensburg, many of which were stomach disorders.
